It's Hurricane Season! Are you prepared?

Keeping and maintaining a disaster-preparedness kit is recommended for everyone who lives in an area regularly threatened by hurricanes.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30, but storms are known to occur before and after those dates.
Officials encourage residents to assemble a kit early. Doing so ensures there are adequate supplies available on store shelves and prevents a rush — and shortages — that regularly occur when a storm is imminent.
Here's what you should have in a disaster supply kit.
- Water, one gallon per person per day for several days, for drinking and sanitation.
- Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food. And don't forget your pets.
- Battery-powered or hand crank/solar powered radio.
- Flashlight, candles, or USB Rechargeable Lantern.
- Medical supplies, including a first aid kit, two-week supply of prescriptions, hearing aids with extra batteries, glasses, contact lenses, syringes, etc.
- Extra batteries and portable power bank.
- UPS Battery backup for you telephone landlines and critical electronics (including Medical equipment)
- Cell phone, charger, and waterproof pouch.
- Safety/emerency personal flashing LED lights.
- Manual can opener.
- Portable Gas Burner Stove.
- Cash. Banks and ATMs may not be open or available for extended periods.
- Important documents in a waterproof container.
- Gasoline for your car and generator, stored in proper containers
- Fire extinguisher.
- Face mask, work gloves, rain gear, duct tape, whistle
While all of these items are critical, its is also important to have an evacuation plan and list of nearby shelters in case of emergency.
We wish you and you family a safe Hurricane Season 2021.
